A star-studded evening awaits Emmy winners, nominees and industry luminaries at the official Primetime Emmy Awards after-party celebration, the Governors Ball on September 22, immediately following the awards telecast. The design concept of this year’s Governors Ball is Brilliance in Motion, inspired by the beauty of dancing waters and sparkling fountains around the world. Creating a visually stunning ‘wow’ moment when guests enter the party, the entire evening will dazzle with culinary delights, superb live entertainment and toast-worthy moments
Cheryl Cecchetto, Sequoia Productions Founder, produces the trio of Emmy events including the two back-to-back Creative Arts Governors Balls held last weekend, along with many of Hollywood’s biggest nights throughout the year. The Governors Ball will fully immerse guests five senses in a multi-layered experience creating a shimmering cascade of color over the gala with a sense of upward motion to reflect the brilliance and energy of today’s television industry. Expanding on the theme of swirling water in motion, the design features contoured ballroom architecture and furnishings arranged within a series of converging curves, enticing guests to mingle and explore. Adding further luster to the gala celebration, the ball will be bathed in a rich color palette of eggplant, magenta, blush and coral, with accents of exquisite Emmy gold.
There are more than 250 chefs and 20 executive chefs working together flawlessly to create the ultimate experience for a combined 8,500 guests over three nights of star-studded galas. Partygoers will savor an eclectic menu of fine dining, “small plates” created by renowned Chef and Founder of Patina Catering, Joachim Splichal. Now in their 24th year as the exclusive culinary team catering the Emmys Governors Ball, Patina Catering interpreted Brilliance in Motion by moving away from a static, sit-down dinner to an elegant, flowing feast. Servers will circulate throughout the ballroom offering hors d’oeuvres and small plates such as Maine Lobster and burrata, Yellowtail Sashimi, Paella Valenciana, Red Wine Braised Short Rib, and Crab Cake Sliders. Also featured will be a delicious assortment of vegetarian and vegan offerings including Tomato “Tartare,” Candy Striped Beet “Poke,” Japanese Eggplant, Brussel Sprouts “Frites,” Green Goddess Chop Salad and “Street Corn” Ravioli.
At multiple stations throughout the ballroom, inspired by renowned Los Angeles steakhouse Nick + Stef’s, chefs will hand carve grass-fed Tenderloin of Beef, served with signature White Cheddar Potato Gratin and Little Gem Chopped Wedge Salad. In addition, gourmet Angus Beef Slider Burgers will be offered, while Beyond Meat®, the plant-based answer to beef, will make its Governors Ball debut in sliders topped with caramelized onions. Dessert service will also delight both the eye and the palate with a tempting assortment of miniature confections and pastries.
For the fifth consecutive year, Ferrari Trento will bring a touch of Italian style to the Emmys Governors Ball. Ferrari Brut Trentodoc, winner of the Gold Medal at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2019, will welcome guests as they step into the exclusive gala alongside a glittering tower of Ferrari large format bottles. Throughout the evening, guests will toast the winners and all who contribute to excellence in television with a choice of scintillating Trentodoc sparklers including the World Champion Blanc de Blancs Ferrari Brut; the Ferrari Brut Rosé, a delicately harmonious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; and a glorious array of vintage offerings.
In an ongoing effort to give back to the community through philanthropic initiatives, the Television Academy has created an innovative partnership with Living Spaces, Habitat for Humanity and the Hollywood Community Housing Corporation. After the official Emmy Awards after party concludes, more than 80 custom Living Spaces sofas and other furnishings that were key elements of the Governors Ball Brilliance in Motion decor, will find new homes with the Habitat for Humanity and the Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, two leading non-profit organizations focused on providing safe and affordable housing to low-income families and homeless individuals.
