Annenberg Space for Photography, a cultural destination dedicated to exhibiting both digital and print photography, celebrated their 10th anniversary and kicked the season off with CONTACT HIGH: A Visual History of Hip-Hop, in conjunction with the west coast debut of NYC’s largest photography festival, Photoville LA. Celebs in attendance includedAmanda Seales, Dita Von Teese, Hannah Simone, Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles, and more.
The opening began with an intimate VIP hour at Annenberg Space for Photography, where invited guests viewed the exhibit. The private VIP experience continued on to CRAFT with food and drink, followed by a surprise musical performance at the park by Dreezy and Anderson.Paak.
Contact High offers an inside look at the work of hip-hop photographers, as told through their most intimate diaries: their unedited contact sheets. The exhibit, which is based on the book of the same name and will include rare videos, memorabilia, and music to demonstrate how the documentation of a cultural phenomenon impacts not just music, but politics and social movements around the world. The exhibit runs now through August 18, 2019.
