More than $300,000 was raised at PHOTO17, the third annual photography auction on October 5 at Milk Studios. In a short three years, the PHOTO events for the Monument have become the premiere photo auction in Los Angeles for AIDS related causes. The annual photo auction benefitted the STORIES: The AIDS Monument, which is set to break ground at West Hollywood Park in 2018.
Photo17 included 80 silent lots and 20 live lots, with bidding available around the world via Paddle8 on line bidding. Guests were treated to a wall-to-wall exhibition of iconic incredible photography selections. The top selling piece of the night was Matthew Rolston’s captivating piece “Madonna as Marlene” for $14,000.
Proceeds from Photo17 benefit STORIES: The AIDS Monument and the Foundation for The AIDS Monument. The foundation is in the final phase of a $5 million fundraising campaign to build The AIDS Monument designed by Daniel Tobin of the Urban Art Projects.
