In celebration of her newest single, Sia announced a collaboration with the #endHIV Campaign, a project of the Abzyme Research Foundation. The Abzyme Research Foundation is a nonprofit that harnesses the technology already developed to bring an HIV vaccine to human trials, and ultimately to patients. Sia’s newest moving ballad, “Free Me,” benefits #endHIV with 100% of proceeds set to fund the production of an HIV vaccine. Proceeds will be used to advance a new potential HIV/AIDS cure to human clinical trials.
The song’s music video, narrated by Oscar winning actress Julianne Moore, features Zoe Saldana as an expecting mother who finds out she is HIV positive. Saldana’s brave performance puts a human face on the reality many women face in the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. The video follows Saldana’s character and her range of emotions that are illustrated by her touching dance sequence. The video was choreographed by Sia’s longtime collaborator, Ryan Heffington, who has done the music videos for “Chandelier,” “Cheap Thrills,” “The Greatest,” as well as the choreography on her critically-acclaimed Nostalgic for the Present Tour.
