Get Out, The Shape of Water, and Coco were among some of the most talked about wins this weekend at the Oscars. From Jordan Peele making history as the first black screenwriter to win an Oscar for best original screenplay, to Frances McDormand winning best actress for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri followed by a rousing acceptance speech honoring women; the 90th Academy Awards was a landmark year.
Some of night’s highlight performances included Bernal, LaFourcade, and Miguel performing Remember Me from the Disney Pixar hit Coco, and Mary J. Blige performing “Mighty River,” from “Mudbound,” the Oscar-nominated song she co-wrote with Raphael Saadiq. Mary was also Oscar-nominated this year for Actress in a Supporting Role for “Mudbound” and he is the first person to be nominated for both a performance and Original Song in the same year.

VANITY FAIR AND LANCÔME PARIS TOAST WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD
Vanity Fair editor Radhika Jones, Lancôme Paris, and Director, Producer and Activist Ava DuVernay, hosted a private cocktail reception honoring Women in Hollywood. The event, held at the Soho House West Hollywood, celebrated leading and inspirational women in the entertainment industry. Celebs in attendance included Alessandra Ambrosio, Angela Bassett, Paris Jackson, Caitlyn Jenner, Zoe Kravitz, Janelle Monae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Zendaya and more.
GLOBAL GREEN PRE-OSCAR GALA
Global Green, a national environmental organization, hosted its 15th annual Pre-Oscar Gala presented by EARTHx. The green event of Oscar Week, gathered celebrities, eco-luminaries, and green businesses to celebrate and champion climate heroes in the heart of Hollywood at NeueHouse. The event raised critical funds for Global Green’s climate disaster rebuilding initiatives as well as their efforts to help build greener affordable housing for the homeless. Among the celebrity attendees were Ledesi, Garcelle Beauvais, and Ashely Tisdale.
ESSENCE WOMEN IN BLACK HOLLYWOOD AWARD
Essence honored remarkable women during Oscar week at their Black Women in Hollywood Awards, hosted by actress Yvonne Orji. The program applauded actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish, actress Danai Gurira, Emmy-Award winning writer and director Lena Waithe, and actress and activist Tessa Thompson. Other celebs in attendance included Angela Bassett, Ava DuVernay, and Lupita Nyong’o.
TOAST TO THE ARTS
Recording artist and Oscar-winner, Common hosted the fourth annual “Toast To The Arts: A Celebration of Fearless Art”. The event honored the Academy Award nominations of Get Out’s Daniel Kaluuya for Best Actor, Mudbound for Best Original Song and Mary J. Blige for Best Supporting Actress, director Dee Rees for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay and producer Charles D. King as well as legendary filmmaker Charles Burnett. The star-studded soirée hosted some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Tiffany Haddish, Gabrielle Union, Andra Day, Amanda Seales, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and many more.

Nordstrom Local, a new concept retail store by Nordstrom, transformed their unique store space on Melrose Place into a Hollywood haven which played host to an exclusive Oscar viewing party for influencers, industry VIPS, fashionistas and celebs including AnnaLynne McCord and Brandi Cyrus. The private event served as a luxe home base with a champagne and mixology bar, gourmet food by STK LA, signature nail bar, Instagrammable glam-cam moments and Nordstrom Gift Card prizes for guests to enjoy before hitting the red carpet Oscar after-parties.
