Benares TriBeCa has been a New York City staple for nearly five years and we can expect the legacy to continue with newly appointed Chef Qutab Singh Negi on the scene. With summer in full effect, everyone’s looking for some place to hang out with friends over good food and cocktails and Benares TriBeCa is a defiantly go-to for good eats and a hip scene! It’s clean open interior and Ganges River theme makes it the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of New York City. Accommodating a variety of diets with a focus on health and flavor, Benares TriBeCa offers both a full vegetarian and vegan menu making it an ideal solution for parties looking to satisfy a range of palates.
The new menu, which is a marriage of original Executive Chef Peter Beck’s and Chef Negi’s menu, is inspired by north India. It features a medley of regional dishes with an emphasis on the restaurant’s namesake city of Benares located in northern India. The TriBeCa location is the second Benares outpost and focuses on healthful options with a strong emphasis on vegetarian and seafood entrées, prepared with minimum butter and fat, and maximum flavor and spice.
The new menu features appetizers such as Dahi Ke Kebab, creamy, seasoned fried yogurt patties; and lamb prepared in a Galouti Kebab, marinated with papaya and Chef’s special spices. Chef Beck’s signature dishes will also remain on the menu including appetizer Makkai ka Soweta, a tender yogurt and turmeric-marinated lamb with roasted corn served with Malaysian paratha; and a seafood dish of tawa scallops, pan-seared on tomato-green chili and ginger sauce topped with mango-tomato relish. Be sure to save room for desert as it won’t disappoint. Try the Atomic Bomb, a modern classic with an Indian twist featuring a warm chocolate brownie surrounded by two scoops of rose-flavored ice cream.
In addition to delicious food, Benares TriBeCa, also offers a full range of drinks. The well-edited global wine list was specially selected to pair with Indian spices and flavors. Most of the wines are available by the glass or by the bottle. There’s also a choice of 11 beers including Kingfisher and Taj Mahal. Cocktails are light and refreshing with options like the Diva which includes Malibu rum, peach schnapps, peach and pineapple juice.
Next time you are in TriBeCa and looking for an upscale location with reasonably priced food and drink, and international inspiration, stop by Benares TriBeCa.
