The 2nd annual 2019 BET Her Awards took place on June 21 ahead of the BET Awards at LA film and photography atelier, Milk Studios. Hosted by television personality, philanthropist and girls’ empowerment activist, Shaun Robinson, the awards ceremony celebrated the advancement and accomplishments of women of color across a spectrum of industries. This year’s honorees included actress Storm Reid, who received the Rising Star Award. Executive Vice President and COO of Beauty & Personal Care, Unilever North America, Esi Eggleston Bracey, received the Business Maverick Award. Fashion guru June ambrose and Mane Choice CEO and natural hair aficionado Courtney Adeleye collected the InfluencHER Award and Erin Teague was this year’s Tech Maven Award recipient.
Guests celebrated women empowerment highlighted by inspirational speeches from honorees while enjoying cocktails, a dinner and a musical performance from Roc Nation singer/songwriter Victory and DJ Ms Nix.
