Hollywood’s most exciting time of the year, we got a sneak peek of the food, beverages and décor of the 2019 Oscars Governors Ball, the Academy’s official post-Oscars celebration which will immediately follow the 91st Oscars ceremony. More than 1,500 stars including Oscar winners, nominees, and show presenters, will enjoy a curated menu from Wolfgang Puck, taste selections from Piper-Heidsieck Champagne, sip custom wines from Francis Ford Coppola Winery and indulge in signature cocktails by Tequila Don Julio.
As designed by Sequoia Productions, helmed by Cheryl Cecchetto for its 30th consecutive year and this years Academy Governor Lois Burwell, the Oscars Governors Ball will be a grand homage to global cinema with a presentation of the iconic imagery of panoramic movie moments entitled, “Filmscape”. Guests will see a compilation of images from the world cinema, orchestrated with live soundtracks and instrumental movie songs to accompany live projected films. The ballroom décor palette of rich merlot with Oscar gold will provide an immersive, movie-going experience, complimented by exotic floral decor from Mark’s Garden.
For the 25th consecutive year, legendary Chef Wolfgang Puck and the Wolfgang Puck Catering team will set the stage for Hollywood’s biggest night with a menu pairing glamour with innovation. The team will create more than 60 dishes, including signature favorites smoked salmon Oscars, potato with caviar, and truffle macaroni and cheese, as well as newly created menu items Miyazaki Wagyu beef tartare on puffed black rice and crab-stuffed hibiscus. There will also be a made-to-order sushi and raw bar. The pastry team will showcase more than three dozen desserts including the the “Ruby chocolate strawberry and cream” – new to the Oscars this year, the dessert features Callebaut Ruby chocolate, a 100% sustainable, naturally colored, new variety of chocolate making its U.S. debut.
The Governors Ball will take place in the Ray Dolby Ballroom on the top level of the Hollywood & Highland Center immediately following the Oscar telecast on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
