The Ryan Gordy Foundation hosted their inaugural Ryan Gordy Foundation Wellness Golf Classic in partnership with Teen Cancer America on October 16 at the Moorpark Country Club to raise awareness in the wellness space as a preventative measure to lower the risk of cancer in young adults. The star-studded event brought out sports industry elite, high-level business executives, and Motown music royalty including Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy IV, Smokey Robinson, James Worthy, Norm Nixon, Redfoo of LMFAO, Kyle Massey and Style & Society’s Kinya Claiborne.
Guests participated in a day of golf and raise money for young adults battling cancer. The Wellness Golf Classic kicked off with a morning wellness reception and gifting suite sponsored by BMW, Callaway Golf Shoes, Bull Dog Skincare for Men, doTERRA Oils and more. Following the tournament, guests enjoyed dinner and an interactive live auction featuring a variety of prizes. The Classic also included an extraordinary hole-in-one giveaway including a new BMW, Trip to Hawaii, Trip to Pebble Beach, and cash prizes up to $10,000.
The event spotlighted the vivacious life of music legend Berry Gordy’s late grandson, Ryan Gordy, who, after being diagnosed with Leukemia, courageously opted out of chemotherapy to live a vibrant life. Cancer remains a major heath challenge in the U.S. affecting more than 1.63 million people, with young adults constituting over 23%, and the second most common cause of death in the U.S. The Ryan Gordy Foundation strives to continue his legacy and inspire others to live the best version of their lives through wellness, a healthy lifestyle, education, and resources for prevention while targeting cancer awareness.
