E! News/ Daily Pop host Catt Sadler and handbag designer Lulu Eschelman launched a collaboration collection of limited edition LMxCatt handbags called The Jacki. The duo celebrated the debut collaboration with an event on October 7 at La Piazza Restaurant in Los Angeles, where they unveiled the handbag to tastemakers and celebs.
Each bag design includes authentic Kenyan beading made by young girls from the Olmailaika Home, located in Sekenani, Kenya, which provides a safe home and education for young girls of the Maasai tribe who are at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and/or childhood marriage. FGM is internationally recognized as a violation of the human rights of girls and women, and it is illegal in Kenya. However, in many tribes it is a social convention and is considered a way to prepare a girl for adulthood and marriage, mostly carried out on girls between the ages of 7 and 15.
Purchases of this bag support the Women Like Us Foundation, an organization dedicated to sustaining women’s leadership through creating awareness of women-led initiatives and granting funds toward promoting gender equality & social justice through women’s leadership. The LMxCatt handbag retails for $575 and are available online at Lumilla Mingus.
