The StyleList: Spring Beauty Trends

on May 8, 2017 |
Featured Video Lifestyle The StyleList

It’s officially spring and whether you braved the desert for Coachella or are travelling to New Orleans for ESSENCE Festival, it’s the perfect time to switch out your makeup routine for a few festival inspired looks. We caught up with our friends at RA_Hair House, the new celebrity hair and makeup salon in West Hollywood, for the scoop on the hottest spring beauty trends adored by their celebrity clients. Here’s our roundup for the top beauty trends for spring!

Fresh Face

Festival season is a scorcher, so avoid wearing loads of makeup as it will melt off your skin. The bare-faced no makeup look isn’t exactly a new fad, but with celebs like Alicia Keys and Kim Kardashian ditching their makeup, why not try this effortless trend this spring.

Highlighter & Glossy Eyelids

It’s a spring trend that comes back year after year, because who doesn’t love looking like they have a bronzed glow after looking pale all winter long? Perk up your complexion with a heavy bronzer to your cheeks for that luminous finish. Also, skip the eyeshadows this spring and opt for a bit of clear gloss instead, just below the crease of your eyelid. Whether it’s a bit of Vaseline from the jar or your favorite lip gloss, a simple swipe goes a long way. Celebs like Solange and Rihanna have been seen rocking the glossy eyelid look.

Hair Extensions

Festival season is a fun time to take risks with your hair. If you’re wearing your hair down, embrace and enhance your natural texture, but looking for a fuller look, we love adding extensions. The Top Knot Halo and Secret Extensions are few of our favorites as it’s a simple to add length and creates a fuller look. It’s quick and easy to install for double the volume. You can accessorize your long locks with bandanas, hats and headbands.

Bold Braids

Braids always beat the heat. Whether it’s a braid crown, box braids or fishtail braids, protective styling makes it easy to breeze through festival season without the worry of a hairstyle falling apart. Though you’ll likely see a sea of braids in the crowd, few festival-goers will turn heads with colorful braids like Justine Skye who slays in purple box braids. Rocking purple hair since her 2013 debut, the singer always manages to keep her go-to color intact without sacrificing versatility.

Add Color

You can really get away with pops of color during festival season, whether it’s a bold pink lip or teal eyeliner. We also love the use of gold or silver eyeliners to create a tribal look around the eyes and forehead. If you’re looking for an exciting new way to step up your lash game, try a set of colored eyelash extensions. They give you an edgy look with way less fuss in variety of colors like blue, pink and purple.
