The Breeders’ Cup returned to Santa Anita Park for its 33rd running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 5. In an exciting race to the finish line Arrogate passed the crowd favorite California Chrome to capture the Breeder’s Cup Classic. Jockey Mike Smith is a four-time Classic Winner while Arrogate won his fifth consecutive race.
Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious international events, Breeders’ Cup consists of 13 races and purses totaling $26 million over two days. In addition to the races, Boyz II Men stole the show with soulful harmonies in front of a record-breaking crowd of 72,811. Other celebs in attendance included Elizabeth Banks, Emily Ratajkowski, Bobby Flay, Wilmer Valderrama, Constance Zimmer, Taylor Lautner, Bo Derek, Aisha Tyler and many more who came out to the park to watch the ponies at the Breeders’ Cup.
The annual event combines the finest Thoroughbred racing with lifestyle, culinary and entertainment experiences including award-winning chefs, shopping and interactive social media experiences for guests throughout the weekend. New for this year, Boots On Stage presented ‘Party At The Park’, during the Breeders’ Cup featuring live music, craft beers, mechanical bull rides, BBQ, lawn games and food trucks. Attendees rocked out to live musicfrom some of country’s hottest new acts, including Tyler Rich, Smithfield, SoCal’s own Eli V and Daniel Bonte and the Bona Fide, with line dancing by Gone Country Promotions.
