2017 Tribeca Film Festival: Hottest People, Parties & Places

The 2017 Tribeca Film Festival was a cultural event for the new age of storytelling that brought together visionaries across industries and diverse audiences to New York. More than 153,000 filmmakers, celebrities, audience members, and critics enjoyed 12 days filled with parties, along with world premiere film and television screenings. With 97 feature films presented this year, the festival also offered narrative and documentary selections covering an immense array of stories and perspectives. Rag & Bone Films Presents ‘Hair’

Rag & Bone partnered with the Tribeca Film Festival on the world premiere of “Hair,” a Rag & Bone Films production directed by John Turturro. The premiere, which took place at Regal Battery Park Cinemas, was followed by an intimate dinner at Locanda Verde in New York City, co-hosted by Vanity Fair. Guests in attendance included John Turturro, Marcus Wainwright, Glenna Neece, Rose Byrne, and many more.

Common & Nelson George Talk Social Justice, Hip-Hop Roots 

Common joined director/screenwriter Nelson George for a Tribeca Talk themed, “Storytellers Conversation.” A never-before-seen extended version of “Letter to the Free” from director Bradford Young debuted prior to the conversation. Common closed out the sold-out event with a live performance, during which the renowned hip-hop artist and actor debuted a new song, “Black Kennedy.” The conversation spanned musical influences of the 80s and 90s, social justice flash points, Common’s first acting gig (Tracee Ellis Ross & Mara Brock Akil’s hit television show “Girlfriends”), his respect for director Ava DuVernay, and activism in hip-hop today. He managed to name-drop Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar as well.

Clive Davis: The Soundtrack Of Our Lives Premiere And All-Star Concert

Music industry icon, Clive Davis hosted an All-Star concert, which coincided with the debut of his documentary Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives, at the Tribeca Film Festival. Kenny G attended and delivered a show-stopping performance of “The Way You Move,” along with a prformance by Earth, Wind & Fire. Both performances left the crowd dancing in the aisles. Whoopi Goldberg hosted the celebration. Other celebs in attendance included Aretha Franklin, Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, Dionne Warwick, and Jennifer Hudson.

Love After Love After Party

Andie MacDowell, Chris O’Dowd, Dree Hemingway, James Adomian, Juliet Rylance, and Russell Harbaugh celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Love After Love. The after party was held at Up and Down.

Dog Years After Party Sponsored By Effen Vodka

Clarke Duke, Kathleen Nolan, Al Knox, Juston Street, and Adam Rifkin celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Dog Years at the official after party sponsored by EFFEN Vodka. The after party was held at The Griffin Pop-Up.



Permission After Party Sponsored By Heineken

Francois Arnaud, Brian Crano, Raul Castillo, Gina Gershon, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Spector, Dan Stevens, and Jason Sudeikis celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of Permission, sponsored by Heineken. The after party was held at Up and Down.

Right Before Aaron After Party

Justin Long, Cobie Smulders, John Cho, Charlotte McKinley, and Ryan Eggold celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “Literally, Right Before Aaron” at the official after party sponsored by Chloe Wine Collection and Rizk Pictures Productions. The after party was held at Fine & Rare.

The Clapper After Party

Ed Helms, Russell Peters, Ditto Montiel, Sting, and Michael Cuban celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film premiere of The Clapper at the official after party sponsored by EFFEN Vodka. The after party was held at the Avenue.

Bob Harper Hosts The Premiere of The Resilient Heart

Oscar-nominee and Grammy winning director, Susan Froemke, premiered her feature documentary film, “The Resilient Heart” during the Tribeca Film Festival to a packed audience. Bob Harper, best known as the host of “The Biggest Loser,” who recently suffered a heart attack himself, hosted the packed premiere and Q&A with Susan Froemke. The night prior, the film made its world premiere in competition at the acclaimed Newport Beach Film Festival. The feature length documentary film, which centers on the work of Dr. Valentin Fuster, a world-renowned cardiologist and physician-in-chief at The Mount Sinai Hospital, has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video and Amazon.com for a global launch.

Baobab Studios’ Premiere Party for “Rainbow Crow” 

Leading virtual reality company Baobab Studios held a premiere party for their animated VR series “Rainbow Crow,” on Top of the Standard at The Standard Hotel in New York, New York. Special guests included executive producer and title character in the film, John Legend, as well as the narrator of the “Rainbow Crow” series, Kiowa-Caddo. Special guest, Randy Edmonds, an 82-year-old lifelong crusader for Native American rights and founder of the National Urban Indian Council, was also in attendance. “Rainbow Crow” is inspired by a legend originating from the Lenape tribe about a bird with the most dazzling plumage and mellifluous voice, who, after the planet turns dark and cold, must journey far from home to bring light back to the world.

The Dinner After Party Sponsored By Nespresso

Chloe Sevigny, Ben Stiller, Christopher Abbott, Michael Chernus, Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, Miles J. Harvey, and Director Oren Moverman celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of The Dinner at the official after party sponsored by Nespresso at White Street.

The Circle Premier and After Party

Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, and Rita Wilson celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “The Circle” at the official after party at American Cut Tribeca. Guests enjoyed sipping on Chloe Wine Collection, EFFEN Vodka, and Heineken, throughout the evening.

The Exception After Party

David Leveaux, Christopher Plummer, and Janet McTeer celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “The Exception” at the official after party sponsored by AT&T’s DIRECTV. The after party was held at White Street.

Bad Boy Documentary ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’ Premiere 

Following the Tribeca Film Festival debut screening of the much anticipated Bad Boy documentary “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” at the legendary Beacon Theatre; Sean “Diddy” Combs, in partnership with Wanderluxxe, celebrated with an intimate after party at American Cut Midtown along with CÎROC Vodka. Combs was joined by members of his Bad Boy Family, including Lil’ Kim, French Montana, LA Reid, Lori Ann Gibson, Harve Pierre, DJ Cassidy, and girlfriend Cassie. Guests enjoyed signature CÎROC Vodka cocktails, DeLeon Tequila, and American Cut’s specialty menu items. DJ Cassidy provided the music.

ESPN Sponsored Year of the Scab After Party

John Dorsey, David George, and Andrew Stephan celebrated the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of “Year of the Scab” at the official after party at The Griffin Pop-Up sponsored by ESPN.
