NBC Olympics & Ryan Seacrest hosted the first-ever Olympics “Social Opening Ceremony” at Santa Monica’s Jonathan Beach Club on July 26. The send-off celebration included a traditional Brazilian BBQ dinner, Brazil-themed trivia, and lots of Rio excitement. During the event, legendary Team USA Olympians including Tara Lipinski, Dawn Harper-Nelson, Jason Lezak and Janet Evans joined Seacrest for a brief chat about the upcoming games. Other celebs in attendance include Melissa Rivers, Justine Skye and Alli Simpson. Seacrest is set to host NBC’s late night Olympics coverage from the iconic Copacabana Beach, capturing Rio’s unique flavor, talking to Olympic athletes and providing recaps of each the day.
