In her youth, Donna Leah often dreamed about the day when she would design clothing. From evening gowns to loungewear, that reflected her true self. She wanted to express her love of sequins and glitter any time of day. And communicate her moods through bold colors, no matter the occasion. In 2018, that dream came true. And Donna Leah launched Donna Leah Designs with collections that are inspired by textures and hues that are strong and powerful.
It also launched her on a mission to help others fulfill their dreams, especially children. Living in South Florida and having her headquarters in Miami, Donna often heard about the impressive work of the Milagro Center in Delray. Through a friend, she was able to learn more about the organization that is a center of creative cultural collaboration, engaging education and inspiration that dissolves social barriers, forms lasting connections and sets the stage for future success.
Donna Leah Designs Launches T-shirt Collection Benefitting Milagro Center
The experience also gave Donna the inspiration to launch a collection of t-shirts that are designed to give back. Impressed with the Milagro Center’s team and the feelings of empowerment experienced by the children and their families, Donna focused her creativity on superheroes. Each person who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of other. And the children who discovered newfound talents were each their own superhero, and heroes to each other.
“Our first introduction to superheroes are Wonder Woman and Spiderman. These characters are powerful, helpful, and are also a positive force. In so many ways, I felt that the staff at the Milagro Center, the work that they do, and the skills and support that the children are learning are more powerful than the fictional characters we have grown up with. The children are the true heroes. Because they will impact our future with their success and positivity. That’s why I decided I had to launch a line of SuperHero t-shirts that would benefit this impressive organization.” says Donna Leah, founder of Donna Leah Designs.
The shirt will retail for $30 and be available online with 5% of the proceeds going to The Milagro Center.
The organization alsooffers uniquely integrated programs that focus on empowering children and their families to succeed. Both in school and in life, having a resounding positive influence on the local community.
The designer was born in New York and is a graduate of the prominent Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Her designs showcase a deep appreciation for the colors of nature. The ability of art to communicate in all its forms, and also the dynamic cultures around us.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Donna Leah Designs has also launched a line of fashion masks in bright neon colors. And also several styles in sequins with cotton lining.
“Each of us can be an essential part of inspiring others to do good and share the amazing feeling of giving back. It’s important to support each other and create a sense of strong community. I am proud to be supporting the Milagro Center and hope that others will be inspired to join too,” says Donna Leah.
