Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens, a new farm-to-table restaurant in Los Angeles, is now open, bringing fresh, seasonal dining to the heart of Descanso Gardens, a 150-acre botanical oasis in La Cañada Flintridge. The highly anticipated restaurant is the brainchild of acclaimed Southern California chef Rich Mead, known for his deep-rooted relationships with local farmers and dedication to sustainable cuisine.
Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens is now open daily, offering a culinary experience that highlights the best of California’s seasonal ingredients. Executive Chef Adam Cherney, formerly of A.O.C., Pace, and Saltie Girl, brings over 15 years of fine dining experience to the helm. His menu reflects a shared commitment to sustainable dining and elevates locally sourced produce and proteins through innovative, vibrant dishes.
Signature starters include the Farmhouse Charcuterie Board with pickled vegetables, house-made jam, and grilled Larder Baking Co. ciabatta, and Coriander & Cumin-Spiced Carrots with burrata, carrot top pistou, and pistachios. Entrées range from Grilled Autonomy Farms Grass-Fed Coulotte Steak with shiitake puree and red wine jus to Seared Salmon served with grains from the Tehachapi Grain Project, green beans, and Thai vinaigrette.
The beverage program includes a robust garden-to-glass cocktail menu and a curated wine list that complements the farm-fresh flavors of each dish. Inside the thoughtfully designed 7,800-square-foot space, guests will find an indoor-outdoor bar crafted by local artisan William Stranger, who used reclaimed wood from trees found within Descanso Gardens itself.
Blending into the lush garden surroundings, the restaurant features natural textures, hand-painted murals, and greenery maintained by Descanso’s expert horticultural team. Guests are invited to enjoy the ambiance through open kitchen views, a spacious dining room, lounge seating, and al fresco options under the trees.
In addition to regular service, Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens will host seasonal culinary events like Orchard Dinners and is available for private celebrations, weddings, and special gatherings. Located near the entrance to Descanso Gardens, the restaurant operates independently of garden admission.
With the opening of Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens, the Los Angeles dining scene welcomes a refined yet relaxed destination that celebrates California agriculture, community, and the natural world—making it one of the most exciting new restaurants in Southern California for 2025.
