The BNP Paribas Open kicked off with the Taste of Tennis in Indian Wells serving up an extraordinary blend of gourmet cuisine and elite tennis in the picturesque setting of the Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Spa. As tennis stars descended upon the desert oasis, the culinary spectacle presented a volley of flavors that mesmerized both the palate and the patrons.
Hosted by renowned Tennis Channel commentator and former ATP star Nick Monroe, the Taste of Tennis has become a staple in the Indian Wells community, intertwining the excitement of the sport with an unparalleled dining experience. The night was a showcase of culinary grand slams with the likes of Paula Badosa, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Alexander Zverev sampling the creations of celebrated chefs including Angelo Sosa and Omar Salinas.
The dishes on display were nothing short of culinary artistry. Attendees indulged in sophisticated offerings such as Tuna Crudo, Ember Roasted Purple Yam, Coconut Ceviche, and a Shawarma Spiced 24 Hour Sous Vide Leg of Lamb. The gastronomic excellence continued with BBQ Shredded Beef Sliders and Jackfruit Carnitas, reflecting the diverse and vibrant flavors that the Coachella Valley is renowned for.
The liquid accompaniments were equally impressive. The evening’s refreshments included exquisite espresso martinis from Segafredo Zanetti Coffee, sparkling selections from Zonin USA, innovative “Voss-Tails” by VOSS, and an array of wines from St. Francis Winery. Each sip promised a blend of finesse and flavor, tailored to enhance the night’s gourmet fare.
The Taste of Tennis also demonstrated its philanthropic spirit. A commissioned artwork by Tysen Knight, renowned artist and filmmaker, was auctioned for a significant cause, with proceeds supporting Shay’s Warriors, a local non-profit aiding cancer survivors.
