The Dolby Theater was filled with roaring crowds, fans and stars on July 9 for the Hollywood premiere of Disney’s live action version of Lion King. A miniature scale of Pride Rock was brought to the Dolby Theater for guests, cast and crew to enjoy and get a little taste of the African Savannah. Tiffany Haddish turned heads with her colorful suit, but Beyonce was the mane attraction as she slayed the carpet with her crystal covered ensemble. Other celebrities in attendance included Mario Lopez, Emily Deschanel, Zooey Deschanel, Diplo, LeAnn Rimes, Tiffany Haddish, Meghan Trainor, Kelly Rowland, Raven-Symone, and Chloe & Halle Bailey.
The film stars Donald Glover, Beyonce, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodward, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key and more including James Earl Jones who reprised his role as King Mufasa.”Lion King” is a story that teaches us valuable lessons about family, loyalty and Hakuna Matata as the young lion Simba learns how to find himself and his roar after losing his way. Simba, Mufasa, Nala, Scar, Timon, Pumbaa and Zazu emerge from the Shadowlands and return to Pride Rock in this thrilling remake.
Director and Producer Jon Favreau teamed up with producers Jeffrey Silver, Karen Gilchrist, and Tom Peitzman to create this realistic computer-animated version that takes us deep into the mighty jungle. Favreau creates yet another film that includes breathtaking scenery and effects. Hans Zimmer, Elton John, Tim Rice and Lebo M compose a new score with a few twists on the traditional melodies that feature the new voices of Beyonce and Donald Glover. The film also includes a hit new song titled “Spirit” by Beyonce.
