Gained a few extra pounds during the holidays? It’s crunch time at every gym with awards season here and summer just around the corner! If your schedule is hectic or the gym culture doesn’t align with your personal lifestyle, there are lots of options at your disposal including fitness technology and more intimate group classes that will help achieve the body you desire. Here’s our roundup of this top fitness trends to get you red carpet ready for awards season and beach body ready for summer!

HIIT

A huge workout trend used in Pilates, CrossFit and boot camp classes, HIIT is a great way to burn abundantly fast through calories by switching up high-intensity exercise with short breaks, helping you to speed up your metabolism and carve out any problem areas. HIIT will have a long duration in the fitness world, as it’s incorporated in many popular workout routines and popularized by high profile fitness companies.

Wearable Technology

Technology is a part of our everyday life, making everything in general simple and convenient. Wearable technology does exactly that, keeping you always informed on your current fitness level by collecting your health data such as how many steps you have taken throughout the day or what your resting heart rate is, ensuring you make the right health choices for yourself. Apple and Fitbit are leading the game in wearable technology, even transitioning it into a fashion trend.

Group Training

Fitness services like ClassPass have quickly superseded gym memberships and has everyone wanting to take group training classes, since personal trainers are too expensive to afford and helps people find a new workout they can stick with. Places like SoulCycle, Orangetheory, PureBarre and CrossFit are just some of the best group training classes out there, not only providing a sweat-packed workout but a sense of community as well.

Yoga

If you’re looking for a workout that stimulates your body and mind, yoga is the best option for you. Not only is it beneficial for your mind and soul, but helps you maintain a strong core. With this ancient practice being around for so long, it has upheld its popularity by reinventing itself with many exciting variations such as areal yoga, sweat yoga and rope wall yoga. It’s also great to mix with other high-energy workouts so you’re receiving a complete workout of the mind, body and soul.

Smartphone Exercise Apps

If you need help with meal planning or want to workout in the comfort of your own home, smartphone exercise apps will ease your health and fitness routine. Apps like MyFitnessPal and Nike + Training Club are amongst the favorite exercise apps out there and will continue to grow in popularity as their efficiency becomes more meticulous.
