Lala Sahab recently opened in the former Savoury location on Manhattan’s Upper West Side serving up modern, creative and approachable Indian cuisine. The menu features mostly small plates influenced by Northern Indian cooking including Mumbai Bites, Bhatti Se (from the Tandoor) and Choolah Se (from the pan).
The brand new menu features inventive takes on Indian classics, such as Tikka-Wale Samosa, a chicken tikka masala-filled samosa, and the Dahi Batata Poori, small round crisps topped with Masala-spiced chickpeas, mint, tamarind and a creamy yogurt drizzle. Fresh, made-to-order naan is offered in a variety of selections, from garlic to whole wheat, with sides like Tadka Dal, yellow lentils with ginger, onions, tomatoes and cumin. Classic dishes such as Butter Chicken are also available as well.
Weekend brunch features Indian Eggs, or Egg Bhurji, made with onions, green peppers, salt, pepper and green chilies, and Thalis, large round plates perfect for sharing with a group, served with choice of eggs and bread and mixed vegetables and sauces.
