The circa 1926 pink landmark that has become synonymous with La Jolla, La Valencia Hotel, celebrates its ‘Hot Pink at 90 Anniversary’ with a series of events including an exclusive Blogger Soiree celebrating the hotel’s nine decades leading up to a Roaring 20’s Great Gatsby Gala in December. With its signature pink stucco exterior and iconic tower, “La V” and “The Pink Lady” – as it is fondly known by San Diegans, the celebration journey includes a 10-month countdown from the current decade to 1926, designed to commemorate each decade of the hotel’s amazing story.
With its rich, 90-year history, La Valencia Hotel looks to the future renewed and revitalized having finished a complete room and front entry renovation in 2013, restaurant and lobby lounge renovations in early 2014, and the 10th floor Sky Suite transformation in 2015. In its final phase, the hotel will include the addition of new top floor suites and a signature spa. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the 112-room and villa coastal Mediterranean retreat has proved to be a top travel destination and gathering place where generations of celebrations have taken place for decades.
Dining options at La Valencia have all been enhanced with the hotel’s recent $10 million “reimagining” and include THE MED, a signature ocean facing restaurant and terrace featuring New American Cuisine, with the adjoining La Sala Lounge and the street facing European bistro, Café La Rue. Each month La V’s restaurant & lounge menus will feature “Craft Cocktail of the Decade” as well as intriguing antidotes about the hotel during the last 90 years. THE MED Ocean view Restaurant will also offer a 3-course prix fixe menu for two priced at $90, highlighting the cuisine of each decade that is being celebrated.
