Chef Jason Fullilove, Executive Chef from Clifton’s Cafeteria opening, is back in Downtown Los Angeles with a newly launch pop-up dinner series, Barbara Jean. Celebrating American Soul Food with a focus on the roots of African American cooking, Barbara Jean’s influence was inspired by Jason’s childhood in Southern Africa. The idea continues to expand into exploring the nutritional value in the origins of soul food and comfort food globally.
Barbara Jean is currently a pop-up installment at the Feastly Space a new “social dining marketplace” in DTLA Arts district, with hopes of being able to open a permanent restaurant space before the end of the year. The rotating $50 five-course prix-fixe menu is tasting menu style with items such as pickled shrimp with watermelon, sous vide duck fat yams, pork three ways and cocktails.
