Celebrity Heroes Turn Out for Elizabeth Glaser’s ‘A Time for Heroes’
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) held its 26th annual A Time For Heroes family festival on October 25, 2015, at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, CA. Festival-goers were treated to a special performance by international music sensations Nico & Vinz, who headlined the festival performing their smash hit “Am I Wrong” along with other chart toppers hits, while the King of Harts camping experience booth transported attendees to Lake Tahoe, the inspiration of Melissa Joan Hart’s new boys clothing line’s fall collection. The booth featured s’more making and story-telling sessions around the campfire, where Melissa Joan Hart, Tori Spelling, Jaime Pressly, and Garcelle Beauvais all read to children in attendance, including Garcelle’s new book “I am Awesome.” Other celebrity heroes were in attendance included Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Boris Kodjoe & Nicole Ari Parker.
Celebs and their families indulged in a selection of food offerings from top L.A. eateries including AKASHA, Pink’s Hot Dogs, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Drago Centro & Dolce Forno Bakery, Made by Meg Catering, Melissa’s Produce, ONEHOPE Wine, Superba Food & Bread (by chefs Vicki Fan & Kazuto Matsusaka), and The Urban Oven. They also participated in kid-friendly activities such as human bowling, the Nickelodeon Animation Station, Cinema Makeup School play station, a science room exploration project with Danika McKellar, balloon animal making, screen-printing, basketball, and virtual surfing.
The annually celebrated festival raises critical funds and awareness for the effort to end AIDS in children worldwide. Every day, 600 children become newly infected with HIV. Since 1989, A Time For Heroes has raised more than $35 million to support EGPAF’s commitment to creating a world where no child has AIDS. It currently supports nearly 8,000 health facilities and works in 15 countries to implement prevention, care, and treatment services; to further advance innovative research; and to execute global advocacy.
