Emerging Experience Style, the final summer 2015 multimedia installation from Annenberg Space for Photography Skylight Studios is set to kickoff August 17- September 20 with style-centric events including special workshops, discussions, portfolio reviews and style themed images paired with curated short films.

CAN’T CROP THIS INSTAGRAM WORKSHOP
This Instagram workshop from Kelly and Jeff Mindell of Studio DIY will teach attendees how to build and leverage their presence on social media’s fastest growing platform. The Mindells will share concrete tips to help you compose and edit photos, define your audience, build your community, refine your brand and monetize the platform. This crash course is for anyone looking to learn the ins and outs of building a defined and recognizable profile on Instagram. The material is applicable to small business owners, photographers, bloggers or individuals building a personal brand.

IT’S NOT JUST PRETTY PICTURES: LIFESTYLE & COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY PANEL
Join several of the hottest lifestyle bloggers and photographers as they share behind-the-scenes stories of how they followed their passion for photography to elevate the everyday while developing their own unique brand. Panelists include photographers Gray Malin, Lauren Randolph and Stephanie Todar along with food and travel personality Natalie James. Moderated by digital media and branding strategist Ilana Saul.

iPHONEOGRAPHY WORKSHOP WITH JULIE LEE
Julie Lee from Julie’s Kitchen returns to the Annenberg Space for Photography and is adding a dash of lifestyle photography and design to her popular food styling and iPhoneography workshop curriculum. This workshop’s theme is festive juices, complete with fresh fruit, herbs and fun straws/garnishes along with an emphasis on how to incorporate lifestyle photograph props like dishware and fabrics into your photos.
Saturday, September 12th (11am-1pm):
PORTFOLIO REVIEW—COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
The Annenberg Space for Photography will host a portfolio review for professional commercial photographers who are interested in having their work seen by some of the biggest names in representation and publishing in the Los Angeles area. This portfolio review is designed to facilitate relationships between photographers and leading representatives and editors looking for new work. Photographers represented by these agencies work for brands such as Apple, Google, Lexus and Nike, and have been published by magazines like Dwell, Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan and Travel + Leisure.
Sunday, September 13th (11am-1pm):
LAUREN RANDOLPH PHOTO WORKSHOP
In this workshop, Lauren Randolph—best known to her 250k plus followers on Instagram— will discuss her work and professional journey as an emerging talent in the area of commercial photography, followed by a hands-on exploration of environmental portraiture. Techniques covered in the workshop will include shooting with found/available light and how to bring the same principles she uses in her travel and lifestyle photography to your next neighborhood photo walk.

Interactive Gravity Room
Skylight Studios will continue to offer the playful and innovative Gravity Room, which allows visitors to turn the art of photography on its side. An off-kilter set creates the illusion that guests are defying gravity. This upended playground provides a fun photo opportunity and complementary photo prints make a great souvenir of your visit to Emerging Experience.
Crowd-Sourced Photo Display
Emerging Experience Style will present an ever-changing slideshow of guest-submitted photos celebrating style. Here’s how the public can participate: Simply hashtag your favorite style and design photos in Instagram with #EmergingStyle for the chance to have them shown within the Emerging Experience Style exhibit at Skylight Studios!
