The newest segment on The Complex Cover, profiles Issa Rae, star and executive producer of the critically acclaimed series “Insecure” (HBO), in its latest episode out today. As Rae gears up for the season two premiere of the award-winning series, she talks with Complex for a candid conversation on her creative process, drawing inspiration from her personal relationships. Fans can expect cliffhangers from season one, and more discussion as to if she’s finally ready to drop her first rap EP.
It is a fantasy to like, be on stage and have people knowing your lyrics,” Rae said. “Like, I envy that. I just told an artist the other day. I was like, ‘can we switch lives,’ because I love the idea of just–you’re on the stage and people know your every word that you wrote down.”
During the interview, when asked about the friendship between her character Issa and Molly, played by Yvonne Orji, Rae says, “This season, you’ll see them kind of calling each other to the carpet in terms of being honest with each other because last season they let a lot of stuff build.”
